MEP/Electrical Engineer Job Description

An MEP/Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in building projects. They ensure that these systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant codes and regulations. The role requires collaboration with other engineering disciplines to ensure the seamless integration of MEP systems into the overall project design.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.
Review and interpret architectural and engineering plans, ensuring proper integration of MEP systems.
Create technical drawings, layouts, and specifications for electrical power distribution, HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and lighting.
Ensure that all MEP designs comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimates for MEP systems.
Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and MEP systems on-site.
Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to resolve design issues and ensure project deadlines are met.
Perform inspections and provide troubleshooting support for MEP systems during construction and after project completion.
Manage preventive maintenance programs for MEP systems to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in MEP technologies.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP).
In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC design, plumbing systems, and fire protection systems.
Familiarity with building codes, standards, and safety regulations Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex MEP system issues.
Excellent project management and coordination skills.
Effective communication skills for working with multi-disciplinary teams.
