Logistics Manager – Job Description

Role Summary

A Logistics Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of the movement, storage, and distribution of goods. The role ensures products are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget while maintaining high service quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supply Chain Management

Plan and manage the flow of goods from suppliers to customers
Coordinate procurement, warehousing, transportation, and distribution
Optimize logistics processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency

2. Transportation & Distribution

Manage shipping schedules, routes, and carriers
Ensure timely delivery of goods
Monitor transportation costs and performance

3. Inventory Control

Oversee inventory levels and stock accuracy
Implement inventory management systems
Prevent overstocking or stock shortages

4. Warehouse Management

Supervise warehouse operations and staff
Ensure proper storage, handling, and safety of goods
Improve warehouse layout and processes

5. Vendor & Supplier Coordination

Negotiate with transport providers and suppliers
Maintain strong relationships with vendors
Evaluate vendor performance

6. Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with local and international shipping laws
Manage logistics documentation (invoices, shipping documents, customs clearance)
Maintain records for audits

7. Team Management

Lead and train logistics staff
Assign tasks and monitor performance
Ensure safety standards are followed

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
3–7+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles

Knowledge of import/export procedures and customs regulations
Certifications in supply chain management

Work Environment

Office and warehouse-based work
May involve coordination with transport providers and site visits
Can require flexible hours depending on operations
