Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in transactions, preparing reports, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role involves bookkeeping, financial analysis, tax preparation, and supporting audits to ensure the organization’s financial health.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Record Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and review financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconcile bank statements and financial discrepancies.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reports.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments.
- Manage vendor and customer accounts.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in budget preparation and financial planning.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances.
- Provide insights for cost reduction and revenue optimization.
4. Tax & Compliance:
- Prepare and file tax returns (income tax, sales tax, VAT, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Assist with internal and external audits.
5. Payroll & Employee Expenses:
- Process payroll and ensure accurate tax withholdings.
- Manage employee reimbursements and benefits accounting.
6. Financial Analysis & Advisory:
- Generate financial reports for management decision-making.
- Identify financial risks and recommend improvements.
- Support strategic financial initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).
- Experience: 2+ years in accounting or finance roles.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Xero) and MS Excel.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Ability to explain financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of tax laws and financial regulations.
