Job Summary:
The Painting Foreman oversees and coordinates painting crews to ensure high-quality workmanship, adherence to safety protocols, and timely project completion. This role involves supervising painters, managing materials, inspecting work, and maintaining compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision & Team Management
- Lead, train, and supervise painting crews, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Assign tasks to painters and laborers based on project needs.
- Monitor crew performance and provide guidance or corrective actions.
2. Quality Control & Inspection
- Ensure all painting work meets quality standards, including proper surface prep, coating application, and finishing.
- Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with project specifications (e.g., color, texture, thickness).
- Address defects or deficiencies promptly.
3. Project Coordination
- Review project plans, schedules, and blueprints to allocate resources effectively.
- Coordinate with other trades (e.g., carpenters, drywallers) to ensure seamless workflow.
- Track progress and adjust plans to meet deadlines.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to OSHA and company safety policies (e.g., PPE, ladder safety, hazardous materials handling).
- Conduct safety briefings and ensure proper ventilation/containment in work areas.
- Maintain records of incidents, near-misses, and safety training.
5. Material & Equipment Management
- Estimate material quantities and order supplies (paint, primers, tools) as needed.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent waste or damage.
- Maintain and inspect equipment (sprayers, scaffolds, brushes) for functionality.
6. Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and project managers to provide updates or resolve issues.
- Address client concerns professionally and ensure satisfaction with finished work.
