Job Description – Home Care Nurse

Reporting To: Homecare Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
1. Policies, Procedures & Practices
- Consistently adhere to PMS LLC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
2. Regulatory Requirements
- Maintain a valid Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD/DOH) license.
- Complete and maintain all regulatory requirements, certifications, and mandatory training within the established timeframes.
3. Core Competencies
- Respond to patients’ medical/health needs including history taking, diagnosis, investigations, treatment, and referrals.
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times.
- Collaborate and liaise with other medical professionals to ensure quality care delivery.
- Promote health education in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Organize and conduct preventive medical programs for patients.
- Provide referrals and specialist recommendations when required (e.g., diabetes management, smoking cessation, newborn care).
- Stay updated with medical advancements, new treatments, and medications.
- Supervise, observe, and assess staff nurses’ performance.
- Maintain continuing professional development (CPD) portfolio.
- Document patient assessments, findings, treatment plans, and recommendations accurately in both electronic and paper records.
- Respond to medical emergencies and lead medical teams in critical/life-threatening situations.
4. Personal Effectiveness
- Continuously develop professional skills and acquire knowledge relevant to the role.
- Attend training sessions, seminars, and workshops organized by PMS LLC, DOH, or other healthcare providers.
- Maintain professional appearance in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety policies.
5. Confidentiality
- Ensure confidentiality of all patient and company information in line with UAE Professional Code of Conduct for Nurses and company policies.
6. Teamwork & Leadership
- Actively participate as a supportive and collaborative team member.
- Contribute to changes in nursing practices aimed at improving patient care.
- Serve as a role model for peers and junior staff.
- Support orientation, mentorship, and development of new employees and junior staff.
- Participate in staff performance appraisals.
- Identify training needs and development opportunities for the nursing team.
- Liaise with seniors/charge nurses on staffing and unit-related concerns.
- Attend and contribute to monthly departmental meetings.
7. Quality Assurance & Improvement
- Contribute to and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate services to identify gaps and improve systems for safe, effective care delivery.
- Participate in internal audit programs and utilize quality indicators for nursing practice improvement.
- Understand processes related to incident/sentinel event reporting and ensure compliance.
Competency Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in Abu Dhabi (DOH/HAAD).
- Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and Infection Control certifications.
Work Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in a related field such as First Aid Clinic, Outpatient Clinic, or Emergency Department.
Physical & Other Requirements
- Physically and mentally fit for duty.
- Flexible to work rotating shifts (day, night, weekends).
- Proficient in using clinical/medical equipment with basic pharmacological knowledge.
- Skilled in emergency assessment and management.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong sense of professionalism and patient-centered care.
- Commitment to safeguarding patient welfare.
- Ability to perform manual handling/lifting as required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and communication skills (verbal, email, and phone).
