1. Job Purpose Summary
We are looking for a motivated and proficient Electrical Estimation Engineer to prepare precise and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction packages. The successful candidate will have direct and relevant experience in the GCC market, with a strong ability to interpret complex electrical drawings and produce detailed BOQs. This role is critical in securing new projects by providing reliable and well-structured electrical estimates.
2. Key Responsibilities & Duties
A. Tender Documentation Review:
- Analyze all electrical aspects of tender documents, including single-line diagrams, schematic drawings, layout plans, and technical specifications.
- Understand the scope of work for LV systems, power, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, and ELV systems (e.g., Fire Alarm, Data, CCTV).
B. Quantity Surveying & BOQ Development:
- Execute a detailed measurement and take-off for all electrical items, including cables, conduits/trunking, panels, switches, sockets, lighting fixtures, and earthing systems.
- Develop a complete and accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for the electrical package, ensuring all items are captured and categorized correctly.
C. Sourcing & Costing:
- Actively solicit and evaluate quotations from electrical suppliers and subcontractors within the GCC.
- Price the BOQ by applying current market rates for materials, labor, plant, and equipment.
- Calculate the cost for cable routing, trenching, and civil works associated with electrical installations.
- Incorporate costs for testing, commissioning, and obtaining necessary approvals.
D. Proposal Coordination:
- Work closely with the Mechanical Estimation team to ensure a fully integrated MEP estimate.
- Assist in the preparation of the technical submission, including method statements and project schedules where required.
- Help compile the final commercial proposal for client submission.
E. Database Management:
- Maintain and update the electrical estimation database with current material prices, labor rates, and supplier information specific to the GCC region.
3. Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in electrical estimation, with a proven track record in the GCC construction industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and SLDs.
- Strong quantity take-off skills using digital tools.
- Advanced user of MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for BOQ creation and cost analysis.
- Familiarity with electrical design standards (IEC, BS, NFPA) and local authority regulations (e.g., DEWA, ADDC, SEC).
- Knowledge of estimation software is a plus.
