Senior MEP Supervisor & MEP Supervisor
Job Summary:
The MEP Supervisor (and Senior MEP Supervisor) is responsible for leading and coordinating the daily activities of technicians and tradespeople within the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) disciplines. This role ensures that all MEP systems are installed, maintained, and repaired efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards, project specifications, and relevant codes. The Senior Supervisor typically handles more complex systems, larger teams, and has greater authority for decision-making and client liaison.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Directly supervise a team of Multi Technicians, Electricians, HVAC Technicians, and Plumbers. Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure optimal productivity.
- Work Coordination: Plan and schedule MEP activities, coordinating with other departments (e.g., Civil, Construction) to avoid conflicts and ensure project timelines are met.
- Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for complex MEP system issues. Act as the primary point of escalation for technicians.
- Quality Assurance & Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and upon completion to ensure it meets quality standards, design specifications, and safety regulations (e.g., NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, IPC).
- Safety Enforcement: Champion a culture of safety. Enforce strict adherence to company HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure all work is performed under appropriate permits and isolations.
- Resource Management: Manage tools, equipment, and materials for the MEP team. Assist in preparing material requisitions and inventory control.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate daily reports, work logs, and inspection records. Report on progress, manpower hours, and any issues to the MEP Manager or Project Manager.
- Training & Development: Mentor and train junior technicians and tradespeople, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.
- Client & Contractor Interaction: (More emphasized for Senior Supervisor) Liaise with clients, consultants, and main contractors regarding technical queries, work progress, and method statements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a technical diploma or degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in MEP trades, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or team leader capacity. (Senior role requires 12+ years with 5+ years in supervision).
- In-depth knowledge of multiple MEP systems (HVAC, Electrical Distribution, Fire Alarm, Plumbing, and Drainage).
- Proven ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
- Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (NEC, ASHRAE, IPC, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office).
