Plumber
Job Summary:
The Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing potable water systems, sanitary drainage systems, gas lines, and related fixtures and appliances. This role ensures the proper functioning and integrity of all plumbing systems within a facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Installation & Repair: Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for water, gas, steam, and drainage systems.
- Fixture Maintenance: Install and repair sinks, toilets, urinals, water heaters, valves, pumps, and other plumbing appliances.
- Troubleshooting: Locate and diagnose obstructions, leaks, and other issues in plumbing systems using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and local regulations.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance, including flushing of systems, inspection of pipes for corrosion, and testing of pressure regulators.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency calls such as pipe bursts, blockages, or gas leaks to minimize damage and restore functionality.
- Documentation: Complete work orders and maintain records of work performed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program.
- Journeyman Plumber license is typically required; a Master Plumber license may be required for senior roles.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial plumbing.
- Thorough knowledge of plumbing codes, systems, and installation techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings and riser diagrams.
- Physical strength and dexterity to work with heavy pipes and in tight spaces.
