Job Summary: The Housekeeping Executive is a supervisory role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and aesthetic appeal of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas. This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage a team of housekeeping attendants, inspect rooms, manage inventory, and uphold the hotel's brand standards for guest satisfaction and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise, train, motivate, and schedule a team of Room Attendants, Housemen, and Laundry Attendants.
- Conduct daily pre-shift briefings to communicate priorities, special assignments, and hotel occupancy.
- Assign daily tasks and sections to housekeeping staff, ensuring an even and fair distribution of work.
- Monitor staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Identify training needs and assist in the development of training programs for new and existing staff.
2. Quality Control & Inspection:
- Perform detailed inspections of all assigned guest rooms (Vacant, Occupied, Check-Out, and Due-Out) to ensure they meet the hotel's established standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and amenities.
- Conduct regular inspections of public areas (lobbies, corridors, restrooms, function spaces) and back-of-house areas to ensure they are impeccably maintained.
- Use a checklist to document inspection results and ensure corrective actions are taken immediately for any deficiencies.
- Ensure all lost and found items are logged, stored, and handled according to standard procedures.
3. Operational Management:
- Manage the inventory of guest supplies, cleaning supplies, linens, and uniforms. Place orders as needed within budgetary guidelines.
- Monitor the consumption of cleaning supplies and chemicals to minimize waste and control costs.
- Ensure all housekeeping equipment (vacuums, trolleys) is properly maintained and reported for repair when faulty.
- Coordinate closely with the Maintenance Department (Engineering) to report and follow up on maintenance requests (e.g., HVAC issues, plumbing, electrical).
4. Guest Service & Communication:
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and complaints related to housekeeping services.
- Liaise with the Front Office to update room statuses, ensuring quick turnaround of clean rooms for arriving guests.
- Handle special guest requests, such as extra amenities, rollaway beds, or specific room preparation for VIPs or guests with special needs.
5. Safety & Sanitation Compliance:
- Ensure all staff adhere to the hotel's key control policy and security procedures.
- Enforce strict compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards (e.g., OSHA, local health department regulations).
- Train staff on the safe handling and storage of all cleaning chemicals.
- Ensure all team members are knowledgeable about emergency procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree or diploma in Hotel Management is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a housekeeping supervisory role within a hotel.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Excellent eye for detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- Good physical condition, with the ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Proficient in hotel management software (e.g., Opera, Fidelio) and basic computer skills (MS Office).
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and laundry operations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
