Job Title: Physical Education Teacher

1. Job Purpose:
The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for inspiring students to lead active, healthy lifestyles through a comprehensive and inclusive physical education program. The role goes beyond teaching sports skills; it focuses on developing students' physical literacy, social-emotional skills, and understanding of lifelong wellness, fully aligned with the UAE's national priorities for health and well-being and the holistic development goals of the NCERT.
2. Key Responsibilities:
A. Curriculum and Instruction:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging PE lessons for various grade levels, following a structured curriculum that incorporates both the UAE's educational standards and NCERT's holistic approach to health and physical education.
- Differentiate instruction to cater to a wide range of abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds, ensuring all students can participate and experience success.
- Teach fundamental movement skills, sports techniques, tactical understanding, and rules of a variety of individual and team games.
- Integrate theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and the benefits of exercise into practical sessions.
- Foster values of sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, fair play, and respect for opponents and officials.
B. Assessment and Reporting:
- Assess student performance and progress not only on skill acquisition but also on effort, participation, collaboration, and understanding of health concepts.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, fitness levels, and participation.
- Provide constructive, timely feedback to students and parents through reports and parent-teacher meetings.
C. School Community and Events:
- Organize, coordinate, and officiate intra-school and inter-school sports days, tournaments, and house competitions.
- Promote participation in after-school sports clubs and teams, identifying and nurturing athletic talent.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote cross-curricular links (e.g., science of the human body, data analysis in sports statistics).
- Actively promote the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle across the whole school community.
D. Health, Safety, and Administration:
- Ensure all PE equipment and facilities are safe, well-maintained, and used correctly.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for all activities and off-site events.
- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and school rules during all PE lessons and sporting events.
- Manage sports inventory and submit requisitions for new equipment as needed.
3. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or a related field (e.g., Sports Science). A teaching certification (PGCE, B.Ed.) is mandatory.
- Essential: Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as a PE Teacher in a UAE school.
- Knowledge: A deep understanding of the UAE’s educational vision and its emphasis on student well-being, alongside a working knowledge of the NCERT framework for physical and health education.
- Skills: Excellent communication and motivational skills. Ability to coach a variety of sports. Strong organizational and event management capabilities. CPR and First Aid certification is highly desirable.
