Inspector QA/QC (Piping/Welding)
Vacancies: 25 Nos.
Salary Range: KWD 650 – 800 + OT
Job Summary:
The QA/QC Inspector (Piping/Welding) is responsible for ensuring that all piping fabrication, installation, and welding activities comply with project specifications, approved procedures, and international codes and standards. This role involves surveillance, inspection, and documentation of quality control processes from material receipt to final installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and understand project specifications, piping isometrics, welding procedures (WPS/PQR), and quality standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, API, ANSI).
- Perform inspections of incoming piping materials, components, and consumables to verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and traceability.
- Monitor and inspect fit-up, alignment, and welding activities to ensure compliance with WPS and engineering drawings.
- Perform visual inspections (VT) of welds and oversee Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities such as Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), and Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT).
- Verify welder qualifications and ensure only certified personnel perform the work.
- Monitor and control the handling, storage, and use of welding consumables.
- Maintain detailed and accurate inspection records, including Inspection Test Reports (ITRs), weld maps, and NDT reports.
- Identify, report, and track non-conformances and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Liaise with client representatives and third-party inspectors for witness/hold point inspections.
- Attend and contribute to quality meetings.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI/CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent) is mandatory.
- Additional NDT certifications (e.g., ASNT NDT Level-II in VT, RT, UT, PT, MT) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in QA/QC inspection within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or construction industry, with a strong focus on piping and welding.
