 Inspector QA/QC (Painting)
Vacancies:Â 2 Nos.
Salary Range: KWD 600 – 750 + OT
Job Summary:
The QA/QC Inspector (Painting) is responsible for monitoring and inspecting all surface preparation and coating/painting activities to ensure they meet project specifications, technical data sheets, and international standards. The inspector ensures the longevity and integrity of the protective coating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications, coating procedures, and technical data sheets for paint/coating systems.
- Monitor and inspect surface preparation methods (e.g., blasting, power tool cleaning) to achieve the specified surface profile and cleanliness standards (e.g., Sa 2.5, St 3).
- Measure environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) to ensure they are within the specified parameters for coating application.
- Inspect the mixing, thinning, and application of primers, intermediate, and finish coats to ensure correct film thickness (WFT/DFT), uniformity, and absence of defects.
- Perform adhesion tests (e.g., cross-cut test, pull-off test) and holiday detection (spark testing) on coated surfaces as required.
- Verify the qualification and certification of painters and coating applicators.
- Maintain detailed records of all inspection activities, including pre-job reports, daily logs, and final inspection reports.
- Identify and report any coating deficiencies and ensure proper rectification.
- Coordinate with client representatives for inspection sign-offs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, or a relevant field.
- Professional certifications such as NACE Coating Inspector Level 2/3, FROSIO Inspector Level III, or equivalent are mandatory.
- Minimum of 7-9 years of experience in painting/coating inspection in heavy industrial environments, preferably in the oil & gas or marine sectors.
