Job Summary
The Civil QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all civil engineering aspects of our projects comply with the established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in quality assurance and quality control processes, with specific and proven experience in DEWA projects, ensuring the highest level of integrity and durability in our construction deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance (QA):
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements.
- Ensure all site activities adhere to the project's Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001 standards.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and contractual documents to ensure clarity and compliance.
- Conduct internal audits and prepare reports to monitor the effectiveness of the QMS.
Quality Control (QC):
- Perform daily site inspections for all civil works, including but not limited to concrete works (slump tests, cube casting, etc.), reinforcement, steel structures, masonry, blockwork, plastering, tiling, and waterproofing.
- Monitor and inspect all construction materials, ensuring they are as per approved material submittals and have the necessary certificates (e.g., Material Approval Request - MAR).
- Manage and document all quality control activities using the Inspection Request (IR) and Material Inspection Request (MIR) processes.
- Witness and verify all required tests (e.g., soil compaction, concrete strength, rebar tests) and ensure they are conducted by approved third-party laboratories.
- Identify, report, and track non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
DEWA-Specific Compliance:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of DEWA's regulations, standards, and approval processes.
- Liaise effectively with DEWA representatives for all inspections, submissions, and approvals.
- Ensure all site works, especially for substations, cable routes, and associated civil works, strictly comply with DEWA's engineering standards and specifications.
- Prepare and submit all necessary documentation required by DEWA in a timely and accurate manner.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate quality records, reports, and logs (e.g., daily QC reports, inspection reports, test reports, as-built drawings).
- Prepare weekly and monthly quality performance reports for Project Management.
- Ensure the timely closure of all quality-related documentation, including snag lists and punch lists.
Coordination & Communication:
- Coordinate with the project manager, site engineers, and subcontractors to resolve quality-related issues.
- Conduct quality toolbox talks and awareness sessions for site staff and workers.
- Interface with the client's/consultant's representatives during site inspections and meetings.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a QA/QC Engineer in the construction industry within the UAE.
- DEWA Experience: Preferably with direct experience working on M/s DEWA industrial projects. Candidates with this experience will be given top priority.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, NACE, BGAS) are a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of international standards (ASTM, ACI, BS) and local UAE regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil/structural drawings and specifications.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
