Safety Inspector

Job Summary:
The Safety Inspector will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by conducting regular site patrols, monitoring compliance with company and regulatory safety policies, and identifying potential hazards. This role is critical for promoting a strong safety culture and preventing accidents and injuries on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Safety Patrols: Conduct daily site inspections and safety patrols to monitor compliance with HSE plans, permit-to-work systems, and local regulations (e.g., Abu Dhabi EHSMS).
- Hazard Identification: Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards. Recommend and follow up on corrective actions.
- PPE Compliance: Ensure all personnel and visitors on site are using the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Equipment & Machinery Checks: Inspect tools, equipment, scaffolding, and heavy machinery for safety compliance before and during use.
- Incident Reporting: Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses. Complete relevant reports and ensure lessons learned are communicated.
- Safety Meetings: Attend and contribute to toolbox talks and safety meetings, providing feedback and highlighting areas for improvement.
- Emergency Preparedness: Check the availability and condition of emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, eyewash stations) and participate in emergency drills.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date HSE records, including inspection reports, permits, and safety observation logs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A relevant diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Inspector in the construction, oil & gas, or industrial sector in the UAE.
- Mandatory valid certification in IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), or equivalent.
- Knowledge of UAE and Abu Dhabi EHS regulatory requirements is essential.
- Strong observational and communication skills with the ability to enforce safety rules firmly and fairly.
- Proficiency in using MS Office for reporting.
