Job Overview:
The Waiter/Waitress is the primary point of contact for the guest throughout their dining experience. This role is essential for creating a positive and memorable visit by providing friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable service. Servers are responsible for guiding guests through the menu, accurately taking and placing orders, and ensuring all needs are met in a timely manner. They are the face of the restaurant and play a direct role in driving sales and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Service:
- Warmly greet guests upon arrival, introduce yourself, and present menus.
- Guide guests through the menu, providing accurate descriptions and making confident recommendations.
- Answer questions regarding menu items, ingredients, and allergens.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately using the POS system.
- Monitor table to ensure courses are delivered correctly and in a timely fashion.
- Check in with guests throughout the meal to ensure satisfaction.
- Process payments and thank guests as they depart.
- Teamwork & Communication:
- Work collaboratively with food runners, bussers, and bartenders to ensure a seamless flow of service.
- Clearly communicate order specifics and guest requests to the kitchen and bar.
- Assist teammates by answering calls for help, pre-bussing tables, and running food when needed.
- Sales & Upselling:
- Actively suggest appetizers, desserts, and specialty drinks to enhance the guest experience and increase sales.
- Promote daily specials and featured items with enthusiasm.
- Operational Duties:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked server station.
- Perform opening and closing side duties, such as folding napkins, polishing glassware, and restocking condiments.
- Complete all assigned cleaning tasks.
- Follow all cash and credit card handling procedures with integrity.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Previous experience as a server in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Positive, guest-focused attitude and ability to work well under pressure.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and processing payments.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and carry trays up to 20 lbs.
- Food handler's certification or equivalent, as required by local law.
