Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Upper Primary Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in Grades 3-5. The ideal candidate will foster a love for science through engaging, hands-on lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and educational standards. The teacher will create a positive learning environment, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the science program.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Instruction

Plan and deliver interactive, age-appropriate science lessons covering topics such as life science, physical science, earth science, and basic scientific inquiry.
Use experiments, demonstrations, and multimedia tools to make science concepts accessible and exciting.
Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Integrate STEM/STEAM activities to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

2. Classroom Management

Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Establish clear expectations and routines to encourage positive behavior.
Supervise students during lab activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

3. Assessment & Feedback

Design and administer quizzes, projects, and hands-on assessments to evaluate student understanding.
Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on progress and areas for improvement.
Maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.

4. Curriculum Development

Collaborate with the science department to enhance the curriculum and teaching resources.
Stay updated on best practices in primary science education and incorporate new methodologies.

5. Communication & Collaboration

Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and classroom activities.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
Work with colleagues to plan cross-disciplinary projects or school-wide science initiatives (e.g., Science Fair).

6. Professional Growth

Attend workshops and training sessions to stay current with educational trends.
Reflect on teaching practices and seek feedback for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field (Teaching certification preferred).
Experience: Prior experience teaching science to elementary/primary students is advantageous.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of primary-level science concepts.
Creativity in lesson planning and hands-on learning.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Proficiency with technology (e.g., interactive whiteboards, educational apps).
Traits: Passionate about science education, patient, adaptable, and team-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with inquiry-based learning (e.g., IB PYP, NGSS, or national curriculum standards).
Experience organizing science clubs, fairs, or extracurricular activities.
