Job Summary
The General Surgeon will be responsible for providing high-quality surgical care for a wide range of conditions. The ideal candidate will be proficient in diagnosing, managing, and treating surgical patients, performing elective and emergency procedures, and providing comprehensive pre- and post-operative care. A commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and collaborative teamwork is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a full spectrum of general surgical procedures, including but not limited to laparoscopic, endoscopic, and open surgeries.
- Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and deformities of the abdominal organs, breast, skin, soft tissues, and hernias.
- Manage surgical emergencies and provide on-call coverage as per the hospital roster.
- Conduct comprehensive patient consultations, explain diagnoses and treatment options, and obtain informed consent.
- Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including anesthesiologists, nurses, internists, and other specialists.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed medical records for all patients.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and international healthcare standards.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education (CME) activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Degree: MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Post-Graduation: A recognized specialization degree in General Surgery (e.g., MS, MD, FRCSEd, or equivalent).
- Licensure: A valid MOH (Ministry of Health) license or eligibility to obtain one is mandatory.
- DataFlow: A positive DataFlow report is required.
- Experience: Minimum of [e.g., 3-5] years of post-qualification experience in General Surgery. Proficiency in advanced laparoscopic surgery is highly desirable.
