Urgent Requirement
We are urgently seeking an experienced and dynamic SMT Senior Engineer to join our team. This is a critical role for candidates with specialized experience in the LED manufacturing industry.
Job Purpose
To oversee and manage the entire Surface Mount Technology (SMT) line, ensuring high-quality, efficient production of LED boards and assemblies. The role is responsible for process optimization, machine maintenance, team leadership, and achieving production targets with zero defects.
Key Responsibilities
- SMT Line Management:
- Oversee the entire SMT process flow (Screen Printing, Component Placement, Reflow Soldering, AOI, X-Ray) specifically for LED PCBs (MCPCBs, FR4, Aluminum substrates).
- Optimize machine programs (Stencil Printer, Pick & Place, Reflow Oven) for LED-specific components like LEDs, drivers, and thermal pads.
- Ensure first-pass yield (FPY) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets are met.
- Process & Quality Control:
- Develop and maintain SMT process parameters for optimal solder joint quality on LED assemblies, considering thermal management aspects.
- Perform root cause analysis for defects like tombstoning, bridging, or voids specific to LED packages.
- Interface with Quality Assurance to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain documentation (SOPs, Work Instructions, Process Sheets).
- Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Lead preventive and breakdown maintenance of SMT equipment.
- Troubleshoot complex machine faults and minimize line downtime.
- Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise and train SMT technicians and operators.
- Schedule shifts and manage manpower to meet production plans.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- New Product Introduction (NPI):
- Actively participate in the NPI process for new LED products.
- Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reviews with the R&D/Engineering team.
- Set up and validate the SMT process for new LED board designs.
Mandatory Skills & Competencies
- Must have 5-10 years of hands-on experience in an SMT process engineering role within the LED lighting or display industry.
- In-depth knowledge of SMT equipment (DEK, Yamaha, Juki, Fuji, ASM, Heller, etc.).
- Expert understanding of solder paste chemistry, stencil design, and reflow profiling for mixed-technology boards common in LED products.
- Familiarity with industry standards like IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, 5Why, Fishbone).
- Proficiency in MS Office and SMT software.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
