Project / Workshop Manager

Location: Oxfordshire

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Project / Workshop Manager to lead our coachbuilding team and oversee van conversion projects from initial concept through to final delivery. This is a key operational role responsible for planning, coordination, quality control, and timely completion of bespoke vehicle conversion projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate, and coordinate a skilled team of coachbuilders, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards.
Manage end-to-end van conversion projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and to exceptional quality.
Plan and allocate workloads, set timelines, and monitor progress across multiple projects.
Maintain and enforce quality control procedures throughout the build process.
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure smooth project progression.
Implement efficient workshop practices and continuously seek improvements in processes.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Prepare project documentation, reports, and updates for senior management.

Requirements

Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a workshop, manufacturing, or project-driven environment.
Strong background in vehicle conversions, coachbuilding, automotive fabrication, or a closely related field.
Demonstrable project management skills with the ability to manage deadlines, resources, and team performance.
Practical technical knowledge of vehicle mechanics, bodywork, and interior fit-outs.
Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
IT literate, comfortable using project planning tools and standard office software.
A proactive, quality-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications

Formal qualification in engineering, automotive, or project management.
Experience with bespoke vehicle modifications or luxury conversions.
Knowledge of industry standards and vehicle certification processes.
