Job Title: Senior Estimation Engineer (Oil & Gas)
Job Summary
The Senior Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for oil and gas projects, including upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. This role involves analyzing project specifications, evaluating costs, and supporting bid proposals to ensure competitive and profitable project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects in the oil & gas industry
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope documents to determine project requirements
- Develop and review BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and cost breakdown structures
- Perform material take-offs and labor cost analysis
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
- Participate in tendering and bidding processes, including technical and commercial evaluations
- Conduct risk analysis and identify cost uncertainties
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams
- Maintain and update cost databases and historical data
- Prepare cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project budgets
- Support contract negotiations and change order estimations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil Engineering or related field
- 8–15 years of experience in oil & gas project estimation
- Strong knowledge of EPC projects, cost control, and estimation techniques
- Experience in offshore/onshore projects is an advantage
Key Skills
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, Candy, or similar tools)
- Strong understanding of project scheduling and cost control
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Familiarity with international standards and codes (API, ASME, etc.)
Preferred Certifications
- Certification such as AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) or PMP is a plus
Work Environment
- Office-based with coordination across multidisciplinary teams
- May involve travel to project sites or client locations
