A/C Technician & HVAC Technician

Job Summary:

The A/C Technician primarily focuses on air conditioning systems, including split, window, and package units. The HVAC Technician has a broader scope, covering Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning systems, which may include complex central chilled water systems, air handling units (AHUs), ventilation ductwork, and building automation systems (BAS).

Key Responsibilities:

A/C Technician:
Install, service, and repair residential and commercial air conditioning units.
Perform gas charging, evacuation, and recovery in compliance with EPA 608 regulations.
Clean coils, replace filters, and check electrical components.
Diagnose and fix refrigerant circuit and compressor issues.
HVAC Technician:
Perform all duties of an A/C Technician, plus:
Maintain and troubleshoot complex central plant equipment (chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps).
Service and repair air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), and variable air volume (VAV) systems.
Understand and work with Building Automation Systems (BAS) for monitoring and controlling HVAC equipment.
Balance air and water systems to ensure optimal performance.
Perform ductwork inspection and maintenance.

Qualifications & Experience:

High School Diploma. Completion of a HVAC technical program or apprenticeship.
EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred) is mandatory for both roles.
A/C Technician: 3-5 years of experience with AC systems.
HVAC Technician: 5-8 years of experience with a full range of HVAC systems. Knowledge of BAS is a significant advantage.
For both roles: Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
