Job Title: Chef Assistant

Reports To: Sous Chef / Head Chef

Location: Boutique Hotel, Malta

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Chef Assistant to support our kitchen brigade. This role is ideal for an ambitious cook looking to advance their career in a professional culinary environment. You will be responsible for preparing specific sections of the kitchen, ensuring the highest quality of ingredients and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Section Preparation: Take responsibility for a specific section of the kitchen (e.g., sauces, grill, garnish, pastry, cold kitchen) as assigned.
Mise en Place: Prepare all necessary ingredients, sauces, and components for service with precision and efficiency.
Cooking & Plating: Cook and present dishes according to the Head Chef’s specifications during service.
Quality Control: Ensure all food leaving your section is of the highest standard in taste, temperature, and presentation.
Kitchen Maintenance: Keep your section clean, organized, and fully stocked at all times, adhering to strict hygiene protocols.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other sections to ensure smooth service flow.
Waste Reduction: Handle ingredients carefully to minimize waste and support cost-control efforts.
Compliance: Follow all food safety (HACCP) and health & safety guidelines.

Requirements:

Previous experience as a Commis Chef, Demi Chef de Partie, or Chef de Partie in a professional kitchen.
Good foundational knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
Eagerness to learn, develop new skills, and take direction from senior chefs.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Good level of spoken and written English.
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
