Mechanical Inspector (HVAC/Plumbing) (Consultancy Background)

Job Overview:

The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for the day-to-day inspection and quality assurance of all mechanical works, including HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), plumbing, firefighting, and drainage systems in a high-rise building (G+30). You will ensure installations are per approved drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform daily inspections of HVAC ductwork, piping, equipment (chillers, AHUs, pumps), plumbing, firefighting (sprinklers, hydrants), and drainage installations.
Inspect and approve all mechanical material deliveries and equipment prior to installation.
Witness pressure tests, leakage tests, air/water balancing, and other commissioning tests.
Ensure installations allow for proper access for operation and maintenance.
Report deficiencies, prepare snag lists, and follow up on the rectification of defective work.
Review contractor’s method statements and inspection requests (IRs).
Coordinate with other discipline inspectors to avoid clashes and ensure integrated system installation.
Maintain detailed records of all inspections, tests, and approved materials.

Qualifications & Experience:

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Mechanical Inspector, specifically with a consultancy firm.
Relevant experience in high-rise buildings (G+30) is mandatory.
Strong practical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in tall structures.
Certification in welding inspection (e.g., CSWIP) or plumbing is an advantage.
