Reports To: Project Manager / Technical Manager

Job Summary:

This team is responsible for the successful delivery of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within a construction project. This includes everything from HVAC, electrical power and lighting, fire fighting, plumbing and drainage, to low current systems (ELV) like BMS, security, and IT networks. The role ensures that MEP designs are coordinated, installed correctly, and commissioned effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Coordination:
Review MEP design drawings and specifications for completeness, buildability, and coordination with architectural and structural elements.
Lead the MEP clash detection process, often using BIM software, to resolve conflicts between different services (e.g., a duct clashing with a pipe) before installation begins.
Manage and coordinate the work of MEP design consultants and subcontractors.
Installation Management:
Supervise the on-site installation of all MEP systems, ensuring compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
Manage the procurement and inspection of MEP materials and equipment.
Coordinate MEP trade activities with the civil and architectural works to ensure a smooth workflow.
Monitor progress against the MEP schedule and report to the Construction/Project Manager.
Quality & Testing:
Ensure all MEP installations meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Witness and manage the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all systems (e.g., pressure testing, insulation testing, air balancing).
Coordinate with authorities for final inspections and approvals of MEP services.
Team Coordination:
For MEP Coordinator/Engineer: Focus on daily coordination between different MEP trades and resolving site issues.
For MEP Manager: Lead the entire MEP team, manage the overall MEP budget and schedule, and act as the primary technical point of contact for the client and project management on all MEP matters.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Experience level:
MEP Engineer: 4-8 years of experience in MEP installation and supervision.
MEP Coordinator: 7-12 years of experience, with strong skills in BIM/3D coordination and managing interfaces.
MEP Manager: 12-15+ years of experience, with a proven track record of delivering all MEP packages on large, complex projects.
Strong knowledge of MEP systems design, installation practices, commissioning procedures, and relevant codes.
Proficiency in reading complex MEP drawings and using coordination software (e.g., Navisworks, Revit).
Excellent problem-solving and multi-disciplinary coordination skills.
