Overview:

The Commis Chef is a foundational role within our culinary brigade, designed for an aspiring chef eager to learn and grow. You will assist in various sections of the kitchen (e.g., vegetable, sauce, pastry, butchery) by performing basic food preparation tasks. This is an excellent opportunity to develop fundamental culinary skills, gain exposure to international cuisine, and build a career under the guidance of experienced chefs.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation: Perform basic prep duties such as washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Prepare simple dishes like salads, appetizers, and cold plates as directed.
Section Support: Assist chefs de partie and line cooks in their respective sections during service and prep, ensuring they have the necessary mise en place.
Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization in all work areas, including cold rooms, storage areas, and equipment. Follow proper labeling, dating, and storage procedures.
Compliance & Learning: Adhere strictly to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards. Actively listen, learn, and apply techniques taught by senior kitchen staff. Show eagerness to take on new tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Culinary school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but a strong passion for cooking and willingness to learn is essential.
Some experience in a professional kitchen (stage, internship, or part-time role) is advantageous.
Basic understanding of kitchen equipment, knife skills, and culinary terminology.
Ability to follow instructions precisely and work effectively as part of a team.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, hot environment.
Positive attitude and a genuine desire to pursue a career as a chef.
