Position: Middle School Mathematics Teacher

Reporting To: Middle School Principal / Head of Department

Job Overview:

We seek a dynamic and conceptually-driven Maths Teacher to make mathematics accessible and engaging for adolescent learners. This critical role involves guiding students through the transition from concrete arithmetic to more abstract pre-algebraic and algebraic thinking. The ideal candidate builds confidence, emphasizes problem-solving, and demonstrates the relevance of mathematics in the real world.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum & Instruction: Teach middle school mathematics (typically covering advanced arithmetic, fractions/decimals/percents, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and data analysis) using a balanced approach of conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application.
Growth Mindset: Actively work to build a positive math culture, combatting anxiety and fostering a growth mindset where mistakes are viewed as learning opportunities.
Differentiated Instruction: Address a wide range of abilities and learning styles within the classroom, using tiered assignments, math centers, and technology tools.
Assessment & Feedback: Utilize varied assessments to gauge understanding and provide timely, constructive feedback to guide student growth.
Technology Integration: Effectively incorporate graphing calculators, educational software, and online platforms to enhance learning.
Collaboration: Work closely with the math department on curriculum alignment, vertical planning, and analyzing student data to inform instruction.
Communication: Clearly communicate learning objectives and student progress with students and parents.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field (teaching certification required).
Proven success teaching mathematics at the middle school level.
Deep content knowledge and a passion for mathematical reasoning.
Strong skills in classroom management for early adolescents.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
