Job Summary:

The Electrical/Instrument Technician (PTW) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems in compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) procedures. The role ensures that all electrical and instrumentation work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance & Repair:

Install, calibrate, inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems, control panels, motors, transformers, and instrumentation devices (e.g., transmitters, sensors, PLCs, DCS).
Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation faults and perform corrective actions.
Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.

2. Permit to Work (PTW) Compliance:

Follow PTW procedures for all electrical and instrumentation work, ensuring proper authorization, isolation, and safety measures.
Ensure Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures are applied before working on electrical systems.
Conduct risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before commencing work.

3. Safety & Compliance:

Adhere to OSHA, NEC, IEC, ATEX, and other relevant safety standards.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations.
Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.

4. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, test results, and equipment history.
Complete work orders, PTW forms, and inspection reports.
Provide technical reports on equipment performance and failures.

5. Collaboration & Support:

Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
Assist in commissioning new electrical and instrumentation systems.
Train junior technicians on safe work practices and PTW procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education: Diploma/Degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering or related field.
Experience: 3+ years in electrical/instrumentation maintenance in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power plants.
Certifications:
PTW (Permit to Work) Certification
OSHA/NFPA Electrical Safety Training
Hazardous Area Certification (e.g., CompEx, ATEX) is a plus
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading electrical schematics, P&IDs, and loop diagrams.
Experience with PLCs, SCADA, and DCS systems.
Knowledge of calibration tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in shift rotations if required.

Working Conditions:

Field work in industrial plants, refineries, or offshore platforms.
Exposure to high-voltage systems and hazardous environments.
May require overtime, emergency call-outs, and shift work.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
