Teaching Assistant (Nursery Assistant)

Position Overview:

The Teaching Assistant works under the guidance of the Nursery Teacher to support the care, learning, and development of children. They are a vital part of the classroom team, helping to maintain a safe, happy, and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Support: Support children individually or in small groups with activities set by the Teacher. Assist with the preparation of learning resources and materials.
Routine Care: Help children with daily routines including meal times, toileting, nappy changing, and personal hygiene, encouraging their independence.
Supervision & Safety: Actively supervise children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure their safety and positive interactions. Assist in setting up and clearing away activities.
Observation: Support the Teacher by making brief observational notes on children's play and engagement to inform assessment.
Environment Maintenance: Help keep the classroom and equipment clean, tidy, and well-organized. Assist with the creation of displays.

Person Specification:

Minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (Level 3 preferred).
A warm, nurturing, and patient demeanor.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Good basic skills in literacy and numeracy.
A commitment to the welfare and development of young children.
