CONSULTANT NEUROSURGERY
Job Title: Consultant Neurosurgery

Location: Ain Al Khaleej Hospital, Al Ain, UAE
Job Purpose:
To provide expert, high-quality, and comprehensive neurosurgical care to patients. The Consultant Neurosurgeon will lead the diagnosis, surgical management, and post-operative care for a wide range of neurological disorders, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice and patient safety. The role includes supervision of junior medical staff and active participation in departmental development.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Clinical Services:
- Perform advanced diagnostic evaluations for patients with neurological conditions (brain, spine, peripheral nerves).
- Plan and execute a full spectrum of neurosurgical procedures, including but not limited to: cranial surgeries (tumor resection, aneurysm clipping, trauma), complex spinal surgeries, and minimally invasive/endoscopic procedures.
- Provide 24/7 emergency on-call coverage as per the hospital roster for traumatic brain injury, spinal injuries, and other neurosurgical emergencies.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care in ICU, HDU, and wards.
- Conduct outpatient clinics, assessing new referrals and providing follow-up care.
- Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor Specialists, Residents, and other junior medical staff within the department.
- Lead ward rounds and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (neurology, ICU, radiology, oncology, rehabilitation).
- Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure all practices comply with DOH (Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) standards, regulations, and hospital policies.
- Participate in clinical audits, morbidity & mortality meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records.
- Academic & Professional Development:
- Participate in and contribute to departmental teaching programs, journal clubs, and case conferences.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in neurosurgery and incorporate evidence-based practices.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Medical Degree: MBBS or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Post-Graduate Qualification: Board Certification / American Board / Fellowship / CCST / equivalent recognized specialization in Neurosurgery.
- License: Valid DOH (Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) license or a confirmed DOH exam passer.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of post-specialization experience in Neurosurgery, with a proven track record in a consultant-level role.
- Skills: Expertise in modern neurosurgical techniques, including microsurgery and spinal instrumentation. Strong decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
- Language: Proficiency in English is essential; Arabic is an advantage.
- Availability: Must be able to join immediately.
