We are seeking experienced and detail-oriented Medical Coders to join our team in Qatar. The role is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and accurately assigning medical codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems.
The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, support accurate billing processes, and contribute to maintaining high-quality clinical and financial data within healthcare institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Coding & Documentation
- Review patient medical records, reports, and clinical documentation
- Assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS
- Ensure coding accuracy and completeness for billing and reporting purposes
- Clarify unclear or incomplete documentation with healthcare providers
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with Qatar healthcare regulations and coding standards
- Follow international coding guidelines and ethical practices
- Participate in internal and external coding audits
- Maintain high standards of data integrity and confidentiality
Billing & Revenue Cycle Support
- Support revenue cycle management through accurate coding
- Identify coding discrepancies and resolve billing issues
- Work closely with billing and insurance teams
- Ensure timely submission of coded data for claims processing
System & Data Management
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and coding software efficiently
- Maintain and update coding databases and records
- Generate reports related to coding accuracy and performance
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with changes in coding standards and healthcare regulations
- Participate in training sessions and professional development
- Suggest improvements in coding processes and workflows
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, or a related medical field
- CPC / CIC / CCS certification (mandatory)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in medical coding
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Familiarity with Qatar healthcare regulations and compliance standards
- Experience with EHR systems and coding tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in hospitals or healthcare institutions in the GCC
- Exposure to insurance claim processing and auditing
- Knowledge of DRG coding systems (advantage)
