Position: Barista
Department: Food & Beverage (F&B)
Reports To: Café Supervisor / Restaurant Manager / Café Manager
Job Summary
A Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, and other beverages while providing excellent customer service. The role includes operating coffee equipment, maintaining cleanliness, handling transactions, and creating a welcoming environment for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea, smoothies, and other beverages according to company standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other beverage equipment.
- Ensure consistency in beverage quality, presentation, and taste.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines.
Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and take orders accurately.
- Recommend menu items and answer customer questions about products.
- Handle customer concerns and special requests professionally.
- Create a positive and welcoming customer experience.
Cash Handling & POS Operations
- Process customer payments using cash registers and POS systems.
- Handle cash, credit card, and digital payment transactions accurately.
- Balance cash drawers and maintain transaction records when required.
Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and customer areas.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Clean and sanitize coffee machines, utensils, and preparation areas regularly.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other supplies.
- Assist with receiving and storing inventory.
- Report shortages and assist with stock replenishment.
- Minimize waste and ensure proper product rotation.
Team Support
- Work closely with other baristas and service staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Assist in opening and closing duties.
- Support training of new team members when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience as a barista, cashier, server, or in customer service is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of coffee preparation techniques is preferred.
