Machine Operator A — Job Description
Job Summary
The Machine Operator A is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining assigned production machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. The role ensures that machines operate according to standard operating procedures while meeting production targets, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate assigned machines and production equipment safely and efficiently.
- Set up machines according to approved operating procedures, production specifications, and job requirements.
- Load raw materials and components into machines as required.
- Monitor machine operation and production output to ensure smooth and continuous production.
- Perform basic machine adjustments and changeovers within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
- Conduct routine inspections of machines, tools, materials, and finished products.
- Check product dimensions, appearance, weight, or other quality parameters as specified.
- Identify and report defective products, machine abnormalities, or process deviations to the Production Supervisor.
- Maintain required production rates and quality standards.
- Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and production schedules.
- Complete production records, machine checklists, quality records, and other required documentation accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the machine and work area according to 5S standards.
- Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance activities as authorized.
- Report machine breakdowns, unusual noises, leaks, safety hazards, and other equipment problems immediately.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and identification of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products.
- Minimize material waste, machine downtime, and production losses.
- Follow all company policies relating to health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Wear and correctly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist maintenance personnel and technicians during machine servicing when required.
- Support machine setup, trials, product changeovers, and process improvements.
- Work effectively with team members and other production departments to achieve daily targets.
- Perform other production-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, technical certificate, ITI, vocational qualification, or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
- Technical knowledge or experience with industrial machinery is an advantage.
- Willingness to work shifts and learn different machines and production processes.
