Job Summary:

The Assistant Storekeeper supports the Storekeeper in managing inventory, receiving and issuing goods, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the efficient operation of the store or warehouse. This role involves organizing stock, performing stock checks, and assisting with logistics to ensure smooth workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

Assist in receiving, inspecting, and recording incoming goods.
Ensure proper storage and organization of stock to prevent damage or loss.
Update inventory records (manually or using inventory software).

Stock Issuance & Distribution:

Prepare and issue materials, tools, or equipment as per requisitions.
Ensure accurate documentation of issued items (quantity, date, recipient).
Assist in packing and labeling goods for dispatch.

Record Keeping & Reporting:

Maintain accurate logs of stock movements (incoming/outgoing).
Assist in conducting regular stock counts and reconciling discrepancies.
Generate reports on stock levels, shortages, or excess inventory.

Warehouse Maintenance:

Keep the storage area clean, organized, and safe.
Follow safety and compliance regulations (OSHA, company policies).
Report damaged stock or equipment to the Storekeeper.

Support & Coordination:

Assist in coordinating with suppliers, procurement, and other departments.
Help in preparing orders and ensuring timely deliveries.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Storekeeper or Warehouse Manager.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (additional certification in inventory management is a plus).
Experience: Previous experience in warehousing, stockkeeping, or a similar role preferred.
Skills:
Basic computer skills (MS Office, inventory software).
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
Ability to lift heavy objects and operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift certification is a plus).
Good communication and teamwork skills.
