School Bus Attendant
Job Title: School Bus Attendant / Bus Monitor
Reports To: Transport Manager / School Bus Driver (on-bus duties)
Salary: AED 2,500 per month
Job Purpose:
To assist the School Bus Driver in ensuring the safety, well-being, and orderly conduct of students during their bus journey to and from school. The Bus Attendant is responsible for supervising students, assisting with boarding and disembarking, and providing support for children with special needs if required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Supervision: Actively supervise students at all times while on the bus, ensuring they remain seated, use seat belts, and behave in a safe and orderly manner.
- Boarding/Disembarking: Assist students, especially younger children or those with special needs, in safely getting on and off the bus. Use a child checklist to ensure no child is left on the bus.
- Safety Checks: Conduct a final sweep of the bus at the end of each route to ensure no student or personal belongings are left behind.
- Communication with Parents: Liaise with parents at bus stops regarding schedules, delays, or behavioral issues, under the guidance of the driver and transport manager.
- Assisting the Driver: Serve as the driver's eyes and ears, helping to monitor traffic and student behavior, allowing the driver to focus on the road.
- Emergency Assistance: Assist the driver during emergency situations or evacuations, helping students exit the bus quickly and safely.
- Basic Care: Attend to minor student needs, such as helping with seat belts, comforting upset children, and ensuring their general well-being.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma is preferred.
- Prior experience working with children is essential.
- Patience, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility for children's safety.
- Good physical mobility to assist children and move around the bus.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, drivers, and parents.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team with the driver.
- Basic First Aid knowledge is beneficial.
