Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our tendering and pre-construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing comprehensive and accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender submissions for major MEP projects. Your expertise will be crucial in securing new projects and ensuring they are financially viable and competitive.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimation & Costing:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical and ELV systems for high-rise buildings and large-scale projects.
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to determine the full scope of work.
- Perform quantity take-offs from AutoCAD drawings and develop comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Source and solicit vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Analyze and compare supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project specifications.
- Negotiate prices with vendors and subcontractors to achieve the best possible rates.
- Tender Submission:
- Collaborate with the tendering team to prepare complete and compelling tender submissions.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities within the tender documents.
- Present estimates and proposals to senior management for review and approval.
- Ensure all submissions are delivered on time and in accordance with client requirements.
- Technical Analysis:
- Apply strong knowledge of LV/MV/HV systems, ELV systems (e.g., Data, CCTV, Access Control), Fire Alarm Systems, and Power Distribution Systems.
- Value engineering to propose cost-effective alternatives without compromising on quality or safety.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, specifically within the UAE MEP construction industry.
- Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of electrical systems, including LV/MV/HV, ELV (Structured Cabling, Fire Alarm, PA/GA, BMS, Security Systems), and Power Systems.
- Strong knowledge of local authority regulations (e.g., DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defence) and international standards.
- Software Proficiency:
- Advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for viewing drawings and performing take-offs.
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard estimation software (e.g., Candy, CCS, or similar).
- Personal Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and numerical skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
