Job Title: Senior Accountant
Salary: 250 OMR per month (plus standard benefits as per Omani labor law)
Report To: Finance Manager / Chief Accountant
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee and manage the general accounting functions of our company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and providing critical insights to support strategic decision-making. This role requires a high level of integrity, professional expertise, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Closing:
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with accounting standards.
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- General Ledger & Reconciliation:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations (bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, prepayments).
- Review and post journal entries.
- Accounts Management:
- Supervise the accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Oversee invoice processing, payments, and collections.
- Manage inter-company transactions and reconciliations.
- Budgeting & Analysis:
- Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and report findings to management.
- Compliance & Audit:
- Ensure compliance with Omani tax regulations (VAT, Withholding Tax) and timely filings.
- Liaise with external auditors during the annual audit, providing all necessary documentation and support.
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and procedures.
- Team Leadership:
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.
- Review work of the accounting team for accuracy.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CMA) is a strong advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Tally, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Strong understanding of VAT and local taxation in Oman.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Language: Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage.
