Job Title: Mechanical Specialist
Reporting To: Mechanical Senior Specialist / Maintenance Superintendent
Summary: The Mechanical Specialist provides advanced technical support for maintenance activities, focusing on complex repairs, precision work, and implementation of reliability programs. This role acts as a bridge between planning and execution, ensuring jobs are done correctly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and oversee complex mechanical repairs, overhauls, and installations of critical equipment.
- Perform advanced diagnostic procedures, including vibration analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
- Conduct precision alignment (laser) and dynamic balancing of rotating equipment.
- Develop detailed work scopes, bill of materials, and method statements for major repairs.
- Support planners by providing technical input on job plans and estimated labor hours.
- Lead or participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment issues.
- Train and coach Lead Technicians and Technicians on proper techniques and procedures.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and failure reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting.
- Strong practical knowledge of pump and compressor overhaul, bearing and seal selection, and gearbox repair.
- Certification in vibration analysis (Category II or higher) or alignment is highly desirable.
- Proficient in reading complex engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
