Job Overview:
We are hiring a skilled Virtualization Engineer to manage and evolve our private cloud and server virtualization infrastructure. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of our VMware-based platform, ensuring optimal performance, high availability, and security for all hosted banking applications, from core banking systems to internal services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Platform Management: Administer, maintain, and upgrade the VMware vSphere environment (vCenter, ESXi hosts, vSAN) and associated components (vROps, vRLI).
- Infrastructure Design & Deployment: Design, implement, and scale virtual infrastructure, including compute, storage (vSAN/NFS/FC), and network (NSX-T) components to meet project demands.
- Performance & Capacity Management: Proactively monitor performance, conduct capacity planning, and optimize resource utilization to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- High Availability & Business Continuity: Configure and manage HA, DRS, and backup/recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Zerto) to support the bank's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) objectives.
- Security Hardening: Harden the virtualization platform in compliance with banking security standards and vendor best practices. Manage role-based access control (RBAC) and audit logs.
- Automation: Develop scripts (PowerCLI, Python) and utilize automation tools to streamline provisioning, patching, and operational tasks.
- Troubleshooting: Act as an escalation point for complex virtualization issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaboration: Work with storage, network, and application teams to deliver end-to-end infrastructure services. Support the migration of workloads to/from cloud environments.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for architecture, configurations, processes, and operational runbooks.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise VMware vSphere environments. Experience in a banking or similarly regulated industry is a significant advantage.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification is mandatory. Additional certifications (VCAP, VCIX) are a plus.
- Strong practical experience with vSAN, NSX-T, and HCI concepts.
- Solid understanding of underlying x86 server hardware, storage networks (SAN/NAS), and networking concepts.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and backup technologies specific to virtualized environments.
- Knowledge of other virtualization/hypervisor technologies (e.g., Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV) is beneficial.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a high-pressure, mission-critical banking environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are desirable.
