Job Title: Mechanical Lead Technician
Reporting To: Maintenance Supervisor / Foreman
Summary: The Mechanical Lead Technician is a hands-on crew leader responsible for the safe and efficient execution of daily maintenance work. This role directs a team of technicians, ensures work quality, and serves as the primary technical reference on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a crew of technicians in performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Receive work orders from planners/supervisors, allocate tasks, and ensure the team has the correct tools, parts, and instructions.
- Perform the most skilled mechanical tasks while providing direct guidance and oversight to the team.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures (LOTO, PTW, JSA) and quality standards for all work.
- Provide daily feedback on job progress, challenges, and completion status to the supervisor.
- Conduct toolbox talks and pre-job safety briefings.
- Validate the quality of work performed by technicians before job closure.
- Assist in the on-the-job training and skill development of junior technicians.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related trade certificate.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance crafts (fitting, machining, rigging, welding basics).
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of maintenance work processes and CMMS utilization.
