Female Flight Instructor (FI) — Job Description
Job Summary
The Flight Instructor (FI) is responsible for providing safe, structured, and effective flight and ground training to student pilots in accordance with approved training programs, aviation regulations, and organizational procedures. The instructor will develop students' flying skills, aeronautical knowledge, decision-making abilities, and professional attitudes while maintaining the highest standards of flight safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct flight training for student pilots in accordance with the approved training syllabus and training organization procedures.
- Provide pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight instruction and briefings.
- Conduct ground school and theoretical instruction as assigned.
- Teach students aircraft handling, navigation, communication, emergency procedures, and operational techniques.
- Demonstrate and supervise standard flight maneuvers and procedures.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback after each training session.
- Assess student performance objectively and maintain accurate training records and progress reports.
- Develop individual training plans where additional instruction or remedial training is required.
- Ensure all training flights are conducted within applicable aviation regulations, aircraft limitations, and safety procedures.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight planning, including weather assessment, route planning, aircraft performance, fuel requirements, and operational considerations.
- Ensure students understand and follow aircraft checklists and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a strong safety culture and immediately report hazards, incidents, defects, or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate with the Chief Flight Instructor, flight operations, maintenance, and other relevant departments.
- Ensure aircraft are appropriately prepared and serviceable before commencing training flights.
- Maintain accurate records relating to student training, flight hours, briefings, assessments, and instructor activities.
- Participate in student progress reviews, skill tests, proficiency assessments, and examination preparation as authorized.
- Assist with training syllabus development and continuous improvement of instructional methods.
- Stay current with applicable aviation regulations, operating procedures, safety practices, and instructional standards.
- Maintain personal flying currency and required instructor qualifications.
- Promote professionalism, discipline, situational awareness, and sound aeronautical decision-making among students.
- Carry out any other duties related to flight training and safety assigned by the Head of Training or Chief Flight Instructor.
Qualifications & Licensing
- Valid Flight Instructor (FI) / Flight Instructor Rating issued by the applicable aviation authority.
- Valid Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or other licence appropriate to the instructor role and jurisdiction.
- Required medical certificate valid for the applicable aviation duties.
- Meet all applicable flight experience, instructional, recency, and competency requirements.
- Valid passport and relevant work authorization where applicable.
- Additional instrument, multi-engine, or aircraft-specific qualifications are an advantage.
Experience
- Previous experience as a flight instructor is preferred.
- Experience providing ab-initio or professional pilot training is an advantage.
- Familiarity with approved pilot-training syllabi and competency-based training methods is desirable.
