Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Designer to join our creative and technical team. In this pivotal role, you will be the crucial link between conceptual design and physical fabrication. You will be responsible for producing detailed technical and fabrication drawings for high-end retail interiors and custom furniture, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and constructability are met from the workshop to the final installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Documentation: Create comprehensive, accurate, and detailed technical drawings, fabrication packages, and shop drawings for luxury retail interiors, bespoke furniture, and fit-outs using AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a technical liaison, coordinating seamlessly with the design, production, and on-site construction teams to resolve design challenges and ensure design intent is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Review and ensure all drawings and documentation comply with project specifications, internal standards, building codes, and client requirements.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Provide innovative and practical material, construction, and joinery solutions to enhance fabrication efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and design integrity.
- Detailing & Specification: Develop intricate joinery and millwork details, and specify appropriate materials, finishes, and hardware for luxury applications.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in technical design, with a strong focus on luxury retail, high-end joinery, architectural millwork, or custom fit-out projects.
- Portfolio demonstrating extensive experience in creating technical drawing sets for fabricated interiors and furniture.
Required Skills & Proficiencies
- Software Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (essential).
- Strong working knowledge of Revit.
- Proficiency in SketchUp for modeling and detailing.
- Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and construction methods relevant to high-end furniture and retail interiors.
- Expert knowledge of millwork and joinery detailing.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
