KITCHEN TECHNICIAN
Position Summary:
The Kitchen Technician is a crucial support role responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimal functioning of all kitchen equipment and minor infrastructure. This position ensures operational continuity by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and coordinating with external vendors for major repairs. The technician works closely with the kitchen and facilities teams to minimize downtime and ensure a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on a wide range of equipment, including but not limited to: refrigeration units, ovens, ranges, grills, dishwashers, ice machines, and ventilation hoods.
- Diagnose and conduct emergency repairs on malfunctioning kitchen equipment to restore functionality as quickly as possible.
- Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors and service contractors for major repairs and scheduled servicing.
- Ensure all equipment complies with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new kitchen equipment.
- Identify and report potential hazards or recurring equipment issues to management.
- May be responsible for basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks specific to the kitchen environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a kitchen technician, maintenance technician, or in a similar role within a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, plumbing, and gas lines.
- Ability to read equipment manuals and technical diagrams.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, safety-first mindset.
- Good physical condition and ability to work in a hot, fast-paced environment.
