AC Technician (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technician)
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Facility Manager
Summary: We are seeking a skilled and reliable AC Technician to install, maintain, and repair various air conditioning and ventilation systems. The ideal candidate will be proficient in diagnosing issues, performing routine service, and ensuring all systems operate at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation:
- Install new air conditioning units, systems, and components (split, window, cassette, central AC, etc.) according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Install necessary ductwork, piping, wiring, and thermostats.
- Perform pressure tests, vacuuming, and charging of refrigerant.
Maintenance & Servicing:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on AC systems to ensure longevity and efficiency.
- Clean coils, filters, drains, and other components.
- Check and calibrate thermostats and controls.
- Inspect electrical connections and components.
Repair & Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose malfunctions in AC systems using technical knowledge and diagnostic tools.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, such as compressors, motors, capacitors, and thermostats.
- Identify and fix refrigerant leaks, recharge systems with the correct type and amount of refrigerant.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults.
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., EPA refrigerant handling guidelines).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Customer Service & Documentation:
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain problems and required repairs.
- Provide accurate cost and time estimates for jobs.
- Complete service reports, maintenance logs, and work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A diploma or certification in HVAC/R technology is highly preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience (1-3 years) as an AC Technician.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using tools and equipment such as multimeters, gauges, leak detectors, vacuum pumps, and recovery machines.
- EPA 608 Certification for handling refrigerants is mandatory.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders. Comfortable working in various environmental conditions.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, customer-oriented, and ability to work independently.
