Job Summary:
The Plumber installs, maintains, and repairs potable water, sanitary, drainage, and gas systems. This role ensures the proper functioning of all plumbing infrastructure, preventing leaks, blockages, and ensuring compliance with health and plumbing codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures (sinks, toilets, urinals, water heaters), and drainage systems.
- Clear blockages in drains, waste lines, and sewer lines using appropriate tools (plungers, augers, hydro-jetters).
- Diagnose and repair leaks in water supply lines and waste systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, water heaters, grease traps, and backflow prevention devices.
- Read and interpret plumbing drawings and schematics.
- Ensure all work complies with the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) or local plumbing regulations.
- Respond to emergency plumbing calls, such as major leaks or sewer backups.
- Maintain tools and equipment and order necessary parts and supplies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High School Diploma; completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program preferred.
- Proven experience (3-5 years) as a commercial or industrial plumber.
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license as required by locality.
- Knowledge of different pipe materials (copper, PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron) and joining methods.
- Physical strength and dexterity to work in tight spaces and handle heavy materials.
