Junior Engineering Supervisor – Hotel Operations

Reports To: Chief Engineer / Maintenance Manager
Supervises: Technicians, Mechanics, General Maintenance Staff
Job Summary:
The Junior Engineering Supervisor assists in overseeing the daily operations of the hotel's maintenance department. This hands-on role involves supervising technicians, performing repairs, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to ensure the safety, functionality, and comfort of all hotel facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Work Orders: Assign daily tasks and preventive maintenance work orders to engineering staff. Monitor progress and ensure timely completion.
- Hands-On Repairs: Perform and oversee repairs and maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and kitchen equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance: Execute and document the hotel's preventive maintenance schedule for guest rooms and public areas to minimize downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations (OSHA), and energy conservation standards. Respond to and manage emergency situations (e.g., power failures, floods).
- Inventory & Tools: Manage the tool inventory and maintenance of workshop equipment. Assist in monitoring parts and supply inventory.
- Team Support: Train and mentor junior technicians. Promote a safe and efficient working environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Technical school diploma or certification in Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum 3-4 years of building maintenance experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity, preferably in a hotel or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
