Instrument Engineer
Reports To: Engineering Manager or Maintenance Manager
Job Summary: The Instrument Engineer provides engineering expertise for the design, specification, installation, and lifecycle management of instrumentation, control, and automation systems, with a strong focus on DCS/PLC platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, specify, and review instrumentation systems (pressure, temperature, flow, level), control valves, and analytical equipment.
- Provide technical leadership for Distributed Control System (DCS) and PLC configuration, programming, and optimization.
- Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules for instrumentation and control upgrades.
- Troubleshoot complex control system issues and lead performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety instrumented systems (SIS), and functional safety (IEC 61511).
- Manage technical interfaces with vendors and contractors.
- Develop and update engineering documentation (specifications, logic diagrams, loop diagrams).
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering, with significant hands-on DCS/PLC experience in a process industry.
- Preferred Skills: Proficiency with major DCS/PLC systems (e.g., Emerson, Siemens, Honeywell, Allen-Bradley). Knowledge of fieldbus protocols.
