Construction Manager

Job Title: Construction Manager

Job Summary:

The Construction Manager (CM) is the field-based leader responsible for translating project plans into a physical reality. This role focuses on the day-to-day management of on-site construction activities, ensuring that work is executed safely, efficiently, and in strict accordance with project specifications, drawings, and schedules. The CM leads the site supervision team and manages all trade contractors to achieve project milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

On-Site Management & Supervision:
Lead and direct all on-site construction activities, from site mobilization to final handover.
Supervise a team of site engineers, superintendents, and foremen, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
Manage and coordinate the daily activities of all subcontractors and labor crews, ensuring productivity targets are met.
Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, quality of work, and adherence to safety standards.
Schedule & Resource Management:
Implement the look-ahead schedules (4-week, 8-week) from the master project plan, identifying and resolving short-term resource constraints (labor, equipment, materials).
Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to the site.
Manage site logistics, including laydown areas, site access, security, and temporary facilities.
Quality & Safety:
Enforce the project's quality standards, ensuring work complies with approved method statements, ITPs, and specifications. Stop work immediately if quality is compromised.
Actively champion the project's HSE culture, ensuring all personnel adhere to safety protocols, toolbox talks are conducted, and site conditions are safe.
Participate in safety audits and inspections.
Communication & Reporting:
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the Project Manager, client representatives, and consultants.
Conduct regular coordination meetings with subcontractors.
Report daily on site progress, issues encountered, and work planned for the following day/week.
Maintain a detailed site diary and as-built records.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent. A trade background combined with significant experience and advanced education is also considered.
Minimum of 10-15 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role overseeing large-scale projects.
Deep understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and best practices.
Proven ability to manage and motivate large, diverse site teams and subcontractors.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a high-pressure environment.
Thorough knowledge of construction safety regulations (e.g., OSHA standards).
