We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant – Projects to oversee financial management and control of project-based operations, particularly related to the supply, delivery, and installation of home appliances. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in project accounting, contract review, accounts receivable management, and financial analysis.
This role requires a commercially aware finance professional who can ensure accurate project costing, revenue tracking, and profitability monitoring while supporting contract compliance and risk management.
Role Overview
The Senior Accountant – Projects will be responsible for managing the full financial lifecycle of projects—from contract review and setup to invoicing, collections, cost monitoring, and profitability analysis. The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with project managers, legal teams, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contract Review & Financial Compliance
- Review and finalize legal contracts related to the supply, delivery, and installation of home appliances.
- Ensure financial terms, payment schedules, penalties, and retention clauses are clearly defined and aligned with company policies.
- Identify financial risks within contracts and provide recommendations.
- Coordinate with legal and project teams for contract clarifications.
2. Project Accounting & System Setup
- Set up and maintain project accounts in the accounting system.
- Ensure proper coding of revenue, costs, and expenses to respective projects.
- Maintain accurate documentation for each project file.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and audit requirements.
3. Invoicing & Collections
- Prepare and issue project-based invoices as per contract milestones.
- Monitor customer payments and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Ensure timely billing to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Coordinate with clients and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies.
4. Accounts Receivable Control & Ageing
- Manage and monitor Accounts Receivable (AR) for project clients.
- Prepare AR ageing reports and highlight overdue accounts.
- Take proactive steps to reduce outstanding balances.
- Reconcile customer accounts regularly to ensure accuracy.
5. Project Cost Monitoring & Profitability
- Monitor project costs, commitments, and margins on an ongoing basis.
- Track actual expenses against approved budgets.
- Ensure cost allocation accuracy and timely recording of expenses.
- Identify potential cost overruns and escalate when necessary.
6. Forecasting, Variance Analysis & Risk Assessment
- Perform project cost forecasting and revenue projections.
- Conduct variance analysis between budgeted and actual costs.
- Provide profitability analysis for ongoing and completed projects.
- Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Support management in decision-making with financial insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with strong exposure to project accounting.
- Experience in supply, installation, construction, or project-based industries preferred.
- Strong understanding of contract financial terms and risk evaluation.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
