Tendering Engineer (EF-2aa)
Reports To: Tendering & Procurement Manager
Job Purpose
The Tendering Engineer is responsible for accurately estimating project costs, preparing tender documentation, and supporting the submission of competitive bids in accordance with project requirements and company procedures.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of prequalification documents and collect all necessary information related to tender submissions.
- Support the preparation of Joint Venture agreements in accordance with prequalification and tender requirements in consultation with the Tendering & Procurement Manager.
- Liaise with the Construction Operations Manager and Project Managers to obtain the required input data for accurate project estimations.
- Assist in preparing material schedules for each tender and coordinate with the Procurement team to ensure supplier quotations are properly reviewed.
- Coordinate with the Plant Department to confirm machinery availability and accurately estimate unit pricing for plant machinery and equipment in accordance with tender specifications.
- Work closely with the Finance and Accounts Department to obtain cost data and historical information from previous similar projects.
- Liaise with Quantity Surveyors and QA/QC teams to ensure accurate preparation of Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and price breakdowns as required by tender documents.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor quotations and recommend the most cost-effective options.
- Maintain organized records of tender documents and cost estimates for internal reference and future estimations.
- Provide support during contract execution and ensure feedback is shared with the Operations Construction Manager for future improvements.
General Responsibilities
- Establish and monitor an effective Management Information System within the Estimating Unit.
- Stay updated with industry developments and best practices related to tendering and estimation.
- Perform other responsibilities as defined in the Group procedures or instructed by the Tendering & Procurement Manager.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal departments.
