Job Title: Sous Chef
Job Summary
The Sous Chef is the second-in-command in the kitchen and assists the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations. This role ensures high standards of food quality, hygiene, and efficiency while supervising kitchen staff and maintaining smooth workflow during food preparation and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and managing kitchen operations.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
- Oversee food production, portion control, and timing of orders.
- Monitor kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
- Train and guide junior chefs and kitchen assistants.
- Assist in menu planning and recipe development.
- Manage inventory, stock rotation, and kitchen supplies.
- Ensure minimal food waste and efficient use of ingredients.
- Step in and lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as Sous Chef or senior kitchen position.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Good leadership and team management skills.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
